Nashville is coming to Kalamazoo! Kalamazoo native and country singer/songwriter Kyle Jennings hosts ‘Kyle Jennings & Friends – Nashville Storytellers’, a lineup of award-winning Nashville songwriters at the Kalamazoo State Theatre on December 9th for a live acoustic songwriters’ showcase hosted by Dana Perino and benefitting the West Michigan Cancer Center.

Featuring the people behind some of the biggest hits for artists such as Garth Brooks, Jamey Johnson, Trace Adkins, Patty Loveless, George Straight, Reba McEntire, and more, this showcase of songwriting talent provides the audience with a rare behind-the-scenes look at the people who pen the soundtrack to our lives.

Performing with Jennings on December 9th are Lee Thomas Miller (Jamey Johnson’s “In Color”), Tony Arata (Garth Brooks’ #1 smash “The Dance”), and Bob DiPiero (George Strait’s classic “Blue Clear Sky”).

Local boy Kyle Jennings spent 18 years in Nashville touring as an independent singer/songwriter before re-establishing permanent roots back in SW Michigan in 2020.  Jennings is a seasoned storyteller and has released 4 records on his own label, Dark Horse Records Nashville.  He has a loyal coast-to-coast grass-roots fan base and has opened shows for acts like Hank Williams Jr., Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Big & Rich and many others.

Nicholasville, KY native Lee Thomas Miller is one of the most prolific songwriters in Nashville and has won countless awards for his songs including 2008 NSAI (Nashville Songwriter’s Association International) “Song of the Year” for “You’re Gonna Miss This” by Trace Adkins, 2009 ACM “Song of the Year” for “In Color” by Jamey Johnson, and he’s a 3-time Grammy nominee. He’s written 7 #1 singles and had cuts by Chris Stapleton, Randy Travis, Tim McGraw, and Garth Brooks.

Nashville Songwriting Hall-of-Famer Tony Arata is one of Nashville’s most adored storytellers. He’s written songs for superstars like Emmylou Harris, Bonny Raitt, Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton, and Garth Brooks. His Grammy nominated song “The Dance” recorded by Garth Brooks is a country music icon and one of the most widely recognized and admired songs in the world.

Few Nashville songwriters can boast a resume as distinguished as Bob DiPiero. Bob is one of the most influential and successful writers Nashville has ever seen. He’s written 15 #1 songs, many of which have been an instrumental in the success of mega-careers like Reba McEntire, George Strait, Travis Tritt, The Oak Ridge Boys, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Tanya Tucker, Diamond Rio, and many others. DiPiero is a Nashville Songwriting Hall-of-Fame member, BMI Icon award recipient, and has earned too many awards to list including multiple ‘CMA Triple Play’ awards which honors a songwriter who has charted 3 or more #1 songs in a 12-month period.
