Addicted to Love
is a play exposing the addiction of one man and the absence of a
good woman. Jimmie loves his wife & children and he is faithful
to his work. However, his gambling addiction causes him to loose
everything that meant anything, including his integrity. His wife
Cheryl talks to him consistently about changing his life; she believes
that being a Christian man makes you a better man. After an intense
argument, she storms out of the house only to find tragedy waiting.
Jimmie lost his wife to a car accident. Their son Peabo now lives
in a constant state of denial, and Michael blames God for this tragedy
and refuse to ever preach again. Cheryl’s father (Papa Stone)
suffers from Alzheimer’s and often forgets that his daughter
is even dead. Cheryl’s mother (Margaret) being the only sane
one in the family works hard to keep from falling apart. Jimmie
now understands that a good woman makes all the difference in a
home. This play is revealed when a nightly succession of images
allow him to live life again with the one he loves.
STARRING:
CHICO DEBARGE, the youngest of the world renowned DeBarge family,
is a man with mission. After the release of his critically acclaimed,
gold –certified, Kedar Entertainment debut, long Time No See,
Chico went right back to work, doing what he does best: writing,
produced, and recording ballads and mid-tempos that make you wish,
feel and dream. It is obvious that this talented vocalist loves
his music.
A true artist is hard to recognize, but ANN
NESBY shines through. Ann believes everything is in God’s
time, and Ann is very patient. Born and raised in Joliet Illinois,
Ann’s love for music was directly influenced by her parents.
“Both of my parents started in Gospel music,” states
Ann. “My Mom would teach me about performance, vocal inflexions,
and how to express what a song was about. She told me as a child
that God was going to use me to bless people with my voice,”
and what a blessing she is! Ann’s voice as part of The Sound
of Blackness has lead the way to become one of the most nationally
recognized gospel choirs in the world, generating multiple singles
on the Top 10 Gospel/R&B hits and earning two Grammy Awards.
ALI WOODSON, the former lead singer and driving
force behind the legendary group The Temptations, has entertained
audiences around the world. He had his work cut out for him having
to fill the shoes of two of the most powerful singers of all time,
David Ruffin and Dennis Edwards. Woodson not only filled those shoes,
he also contributed something many others could not. In the mid
1980’s Woodson put The Temptations back on top of the Pop
and R&B charts with his song, “Treat Her like a Lady.”
Born in Detroit, Woodson started singing at the age of four in the
local church choir. It was there he exhibited heart-rending harmonic
melodies. Over the years, Woodson has consistently enraptured audiences
with his diamond-sharp vocals. He has performed with some of the
best in the industry including Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Chaka
Kahn and the God father of soul himself James Brown.
