Come celebrate New Year’s Eve at the State Theatre with two of Kalamazoo’s finest musical gems, The Red Sea Pedestrians and The Corn Fed Girls performing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road in their entirety!

The Corn Fed Girls can best be described with a simple statement: Heartwarming acoustic music with enduring themes that capture the imagination and fill the soul.  They possess a unique ability to inject their live show with humor while performing original songs that simultaneously challenge and comfort the listener. Their instrumental line up can be considered traditional, however their musical arrangements certainly span the gap between old and new, and sharing the lead vocal duties between all six members of the band definitely puts them in a league all their own.

The Red Sea Pedestrians are a melting pot of six distinct multi-instrumentalists and singer/songwriters, almost a self-contained variety show. Their sound is first defined by the sweet interplay between clarinet and violin and is colored by three fine singers and multi-instrumentalists, as well as masterful percussion. The band members are also students of the great records of the sixties (notably late Beatles) and hence they have created a realm that is both comforting and challenging to the listener. Multi-layered lyrics, rich harmonies, and masterful playing complete the story.

The evening will start out with a set of each band’s own music, then the night will progress with their powers combining into what has become an infamous performance of live Beatles’ magic.  For the bands’ fans and The Beatles’ fans alike, it will be one sensational performance.

Their live performances of full-length Beatles’ albums have a tendency to sell out, so be sure to get your tickets in advance.
